Our Story
Who are we?

Since its inception, the Rae-Edzo Friendship Centre (REFC) has led the way in the delivery of social services, primarily in Behchoko (Rae and Edzo), but in all Tlicho communities as well. Created as a benevolent, philanthropic, non-profit corporation, governed by the Societies Act of the Northwest Territories, the REFC exists to build values, character and community for the Behchoko and surrounding communities by providing a safe environment and practical support through a broad range of programs and services.

VISION STATEMENT

We are Tlicho.

We are strong in our traditional and contemporary way of life. We are connected to the land and we maintain our language, culture, values and beliefs. The Rae-Edzo Friendship Centre has effective supports for the Tlicho healing journey nurturing independence, resilience, serenity, and kindness.

What people say about us
  • This place is growing and is needed for the local youth

  • Since joining the team – and what your organization provides to your community – I feel a sense of connection and pride – since this is what I grew up with in my home community…a youth drop in center by the friendship center movement. Keep up the good work !
